After Patria

On Sunday 26th May from 12 noon we will share an afternoon in the courtyard of Union with music, traditional dances, talks with members of our community and of course with the typical food that is enjoyed in Argentina for these dates. 

Background

The 25th of May 1810 is the first step taken by the Argentine people towards their independence. It commemorates the formation of the First Patriotic Government. At that time, a group of Creoles questioned the authority of the Kingdom of Spain, which was under French occupation. The events that followed led to the declaration of Argentina's Independence in 1816. 

Today, 214 years later, Argentines are still forging their identity and defending their nation from those interests that wish for submissiveness, just as before 1810. 

Those of us who live in Denmark brought our stories, values, culture and flavors to share with the whole world. But we also seek to discover all that other cultures can bring us to grow as a society. That is the dialogue we want to offer at this event.

El domingo 26 de mayo desde las 12 hs vamos a compartir una tarde en el patio de UNION con música, danzas tradicionales, charlas con integrantes de nuestra comunidad y por supuesto con las comidas típicas que se disfrutan en Argentina para éstas fechas.

Historia

El 25 de Mayo de 1810 es el primer paso que dió el pueblo argentino hacia su independencia. Se conmemora la formación del Primer Gobierno Patrio. En ese entonces, un grupo de criollos cuestionaron la autoridad del Reino de España, que se encontraba bajo ocupación francesa. Los acontecimientos posteriores llevaron a que en 1816 se declarase la Independencia Argentina. 

Hoy, 214 años después, los argentinos y argentinas seguimos forjando nuestra identidad y defendiendo nuestra Nación de aquellos intereses que nos quieren sumisos como antes de 1810. Quienes vivimos en Dinamarca trajimos nuestras historias, valores, cultura, sabores para compartir con todo el mundo. 

Pero también buscamos descubrir todo lo que otras culturas pueden aportarnos para crecer como sociedad. Ese es el diálogo que queremos ofrecer en este evento.
